It’s early June as I write this blog post, the first blog post on the new home of the Nick Chronicles. Right now the country is protesting and rioting over the murder of George Floyd, the Coronavirus curve seems to be flattening, and the road to the 2020 presidential election looks like a rocky one.

I’m sipping a White Claw hard seltzer as I write this (a detail I’m sure will further cement this blog post in a specific moment in time). I’m trying to decide whether it’s oddly appropriate, weirdly opportunistic, or incredibly insignificant that I happen to be updating my comic in what seems to be such an historically significant time? It is no coincidence that this new chapter in my comic is titled Uncertain Times. If there’s one thing I know it’s that I don’t know where any of this is going.

But on top of the changes going on in our world, I have also gone through personal changes. Within the past 16 months since I published my latest comic I’ve made more life changes than I’ve been able to keep up with on paper. This new chapter in the Nick Chronicles, and the shiny new website to go with it, were both a long time coming. I didn’t expect it to go exactly like this, but then again, who did?
